A search led by Prince Albert RCMP that started on Sturgeon Lake First Nation ended in Prince Albert.

Mavis Bird, 34, was last seen late last week at a gathering in Sturgeon Lake, but her family was in communication with her after that.

They reported her missing on Monday, with Prince Albert RCMP taking the reins on the search.

Despite people reporting they had seen her and receiving texts confirming her safety after the search started, her family said Bird lost touch with them early this week.

Police found two vehicles she’s been known to drive on Thursday, which was part of their investigation.

Bird’s family confirms she was found unhurt in Prince Albert on Thursday night. Her sister, who picked her up from the police station, said Bird will take a few days to recall the events of the days she wasn’t able to contact them.

Bird’s mother, Sandra Bird, said she is thankful for all the coverage and quick recovery. She added she knows others aren’t so lucky.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Chad McLeod said this is the best possible outcome for a missing person, which is unfortunately a rare one for those files.

Prince Albert Police have now taken over the file since Bird was found in the city.

City police and RCMP are working in conjunction with a criminal investigation.
