P.A. hosts five-club karate tournament
It was an action-packed weekend as Prince Albert hosted more than 100 karate competitors.
The 36th annual Saskatchewan International Karate College Provincial Anniversary Tournament was held at St. Francis School. Hosted by Prince Albert Boudokai Karate, the tournament included clubs from Prince Albert, Regina, Rosthern, St. Louis and Meath Park. The event featured clinics for both competitors and instructors, and let students test their skills in both kata (choreographed demonstrations) and kumite (sparring).
Marcel Lussier, chief instructor of Saskatchewan International Karate College, said he was pleased with the turnout of both participants and spectators.
“Today’s been fantastic. The crowd is full and we’ve got a lot of competitors,” Lussier said. “We started early because we might not get done on time.”
