Meadow Lake Museum adding an outdoor structure
There will be a new home for some larger items currently on display at the Meadow Lake Museum.
Volunteers are adding a quonset building to their ‘back 40’, a fenced-off area adjacent to the museum building which currently houses some vintage machinery. The structure will serve as a workshop, as well as a display area for tourists to visit.
Museum board president Jack Moffet said it is a welcome addition to the facility, and it will protect larger items from rain and sun damage.
“Some bigger items that are in the back but covered up, this will allow them to be out so people can see them,” he said. “We have a big vault that we got from Meyers Meat shop a long time ago, and it’s a nice piece of history. We also grind mill that they used to use to make porridge back in the early ’30 and ‘40s and some of the other machinery as well.”
