Youth charged in school threat case appears in court
The young person charged with threatening a local school this week made a court appearance in Prince Albert Tuesday morning.
The 13-year-old boy appeared in custody in Prince Albert Provincial Court. He cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Family members of the boy were in court Tuesday morning, where the youth was released on several conditions, including that he stay away from Carlton Comprehensive Public High School, not possess any weapons or firearms, and report to a youth worker. He is due back in court next week.
The young man was charged Monday following a report of a threat made via social media. While initial reports said the threat was made against Carlton school, police later said there was no evidence the school was the target.
