An investigation is underway after a moose was shot near Carmel.

Humboldt conservation officers received information on the Turn In Poachers (TIP) line Jan. 22, about a moose that had been shot on private land, about eight kilometres south of Carmel.

The moose that was ‘barrel’ dressed was found just west of the Carmel Pottery Church, leaving a significant amount of edible meat to waste, and there was no open moose season during that time.

The moose was shot between Sunday, Jan. 20 and Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Some evidence was collected at the scene, and tire tracks from a two-wheel drive vehicle were identified at the scene.

If you have any information, you are urged to call the Ministry of Environment’s TIP line at 1-800-667-7561, or #5555 from a SaskTel cellphone.
