The Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce will host its 20th Mark of Excellence Awards next month.

Co-owner of Home Hardware, Tim Graf was selected as this year’s hall of fame inductee for his community involvement stemming back over 35 years.

Chamber Executive Director Brent Fitzpatrick said Graf was an obvious choice.

“As a long standing community member it was a very, very easy process to get him as an inductee,” Fitzpatrick said.

Graf began his career in 1983 when he set up a business with his brothers and has been building in Humboldt since his retirement a couple of years ago. He is also known for his community involvement.

Graf developed numerous properties as a carpenter, and has supplied millions of dollars’ worth in building material. Home Hardware provided jobs to hundreds of residents.

The business hall of fame inductee began in 2011 and Graf will join many other community builders in the hall.

There are also two new categories at the annual awards this year. One of them being the inclusive employer award.

“Humboldt is known as an accommodating and inclusive kind of community and when you see nominees that we’ve got and you visit their businesses you can tell the feel and the vibe is one of openness and acceptance,” Fitzpatrick said.

The second new category is the safety leadership award which will be awarded to Futuristic Industries as they are the only nominee.

“It’s pretty much the most perfect one that I could come up with for an honoree in that category,” Fitzpatrick said.

Tickets for the March 20 event are around half sold and can be purchased at the chamber office.
