The Nipawin byelection votes are in and Gene Rusk is the newest member of council.

Rusk had 139 votes to beat out Laurie Kratochvil by 20 votes.

“We will be meeting with our new councillor elect over the next day or so and working to begin orientation for him,” CAO and returning officer Barry Elliot said.

Rusk will be at the council meeting to be sworn in by Mayor Rennie Harper on Monday evening according to Elliot.

“We just look forward to welcoming someone new to the table and filling the spot and getting on with the work,” Harper said.

Rusk is a long-time resident of Nipawin and is retired from the gravel business.
