Time to take a look at your RV

With Victoria Day long weekend just over five weeks away, it’s time to ensure your RV is ready to go.

Victoria Day is the unofficial kickoff to the camping season, which means it’s crucial to be ready for the unexpected when it comes to servicing, preparing, and making sure that your camping season goes on without a hitch.

Dave Tupling, owner of Outback RV, said the most overlooked things people miss when getting ready are appliances, seals on windows and doors, and their roof.

“Most people never go up on their roof and check,” he said. “If you have a slight tear in the rubber on the roof, your whole trailer is at risk of basically being a write-off.”

When it comes to appliances, he said firing up the furnace, water heater and fridge before you get to the campground ensures you’re not stuck without a valuable asset to your camping experience.

When it comes to actual items, there are centres or park stores where things can be replaced, but finding a niche item for an ailing furnace may not be as easy to acquire, especially if you’re in a remote location.
