Archers of all ages set to compete in P.A.

Prince Albert will be playing host to archers from across Saskatchewan this weekend.

At the Alfred Jenkins Field House, shooters will gather to compete in the Indoor Junior Olympic Program competition and the Saskatchewan Archery Association Indoor Provincials.

“It’s for archers aged from five-year-olds to 21 years of age, we’re going to be having 327 shooters coming in from all over Saskatchewan,” Ron Smith, an insturactor with Timberland Bowbenders Archery Club said. “You shoot against everyone in Saskatchewan that’s at the same badge level.”

Smith said the second tournament brings out archers of all ages — from five years’ old to 80-year-old competitors.

Volunteers are set to start setting up at the Alfred Jenkins Field House Friday.

“Set up is going to take us anywhere from three to six hours depending on how many volunteers we get to come out and help us,” Smith said.

Smith said the local archery club has around 51 kids and 38 adults.
