Rambler Rodeo and Trade Fair set for this weekend in Tisdale

A big fundraiser for the Tisdale Ramblers Senior Hockey Club takes place this weekend.

The Tisdale Rambler Rodeo opens the evening of April 18 with the Ranch Rodeo portion of the event.

Things really start to ramp up on Friday, April 19 as the Rodeo gets underway and the Trade Fair opens.

Volunteer Carson Penner said everyone is pretty excited for the event to get going.

“Everything is ready to go,” Penner told northeastNOW. “We’ve got lots of cowboys coming. It’s a little bit later this year, so we’ve got lots of entries. It’s going to be a full rodeo, and we’re excited to have some nice weather for a change.”

Penner also added the event is not only a benefit to the Town of Tisdale, but to the whole region.

“I don’t think it’s just Tisdale, it’s the entire northeast,” he said. “It’s a unique event in the northeast. We have people come from all corners of the province to enjoy the shows. Even the heavy horse pulls is one of the best, if not the best heavy horse pulls in the province.”

He added with the event bringing in a lot of people from different regions, the businesses in Tisdale and the whole region should benefit.

The Rambler Rodeo and Trade Fair have been going on for over 30 years now and Penner said they are always looking to improve on the event.

“I would say it has been an up and down success throughout the years,” Penner said. “We’ve changed things and molded things, but every year it’s kind of that first event after a long cold winter, and people can get up and get out of the house and get outside. It brings a lot of people to one spot at the same time.”

The trade fair is free to check out and Penner said they have added an escape room at the trade fair this year. The cabaret for the event wraps things up on Saturday, April 20 with entertainment provided by Codie Prevost.
