Road Closure

Portion of Nipawin Road East to be closed for weekend

May 9, 2019 | 4:16 PM

A portion of Nipawin Road East in Nipawin will be closed beginning on Friday, and spanning through the weekend.

One block of the road from First Avenue to Railway Avenue will be closed from about 7 a.m. on Friday, May 10 and should be re-opened by Monday, May 13. The reason for the closure is to allow the town to do some repairs on a water main break caused by some frost.

Director of Works and Utilities Blain Crowley said the job to fix it is a bit tricky.

“The frost is still down there in the ground too,” he said. “So we have to make sure we can get down there without causing any significant damage.”

Crowley added they need to do some line locating as well in the area and they have to be careful with the frost which is why they need a few extra days to do the job on the truck route.

“The frost level went down to unprecedented levels this year compared to a lot of other years,” Crowley told northeastNOW.
