Man escapes smoking truck without injury

Jun 5, 2019 | 12:00 PM

Prince Albert’s Kim Miller may have had a guardian angel watching over him Wednesday morning.

Just before 11 a.m., Miller was driving east on 15th Street when his engine suddenly failed. Miller made the quick decision to turn the truck into the nearby Dr. Java’s parking lot.

“As I pulled in and stopped and braked, I threw it in park and that’s when the smoke started billowing into the cab,” he said.

The fire department arrived minutes later and extinguished the smoke and flames from underneath the hood of the truck. Miller told paNOW he felt lucky he was able to escape without injury.

“Considering what I smelt was electrical and you don’t know if the fuel is gonna blow up or what’s gonna happen,” he said.

The Prince Albert Police Service and Parkland Ambulance were also dispatched to the scene.
