Prince Albert Collegiate Institute’s (PACI) class of 2019 is officially finished their high school career.

Wednesday the school’s student received their diplomas in a ceremony at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre.

PACI Principal Dawne Adams said this year the school saw 31 students graduate. The area high school is known for its emphasis on smaller classes along with the arts.

“It was as usual, quite an emotional day, but full of celebration,” she said.

Adams said the graduating class has some students who will be going on to post-secondary education to continue their arts education.

The class valedictorian Havana Krawec said PACI provided her a unique experience.

“Every graduate, or person who even goes there still will tell you, it’s like a family, because I know lots of my teachers on a first name basis,” she said.

In her speech, the now high school graduate touched on how everyone graduating had to overcome some challenges to get to where they are and how proud she was about what was accomplished.

Many of the schools graduates will be going on to post-secondary education, with many focusing on fine arts. Krawec is planning to attend the University of Saskatchewan where she wants to study psychology. However she has plans beyond just obtaining her undergraduate degree.

“Hopefully in the next 12 years, my name will have ‘doctor’ in front of it,” she said.

Specifically, Krawec is interested in becoming a criminal psychologist. She explained she wants to pursue a career in this field because she is interested in how different people’s minds work and hopefully make a difference by helping to address some root causes behind crimes.
