Prince Albert rugby players make an impression

Prince Albert’s rugby talent made an impression in Winnipeg during the Manitoba-Saskatchewan regional tournament over the weekend.

Ten youth were in various Saskatchewan teams, two of which claimed titles.

Experienced player Thayne Clarke and Jacob Beauchesne were part of the U-18 boys Team Sask who won their championship.

Meanwhile, Riley Clarke along with Gregory Godinez-Yellowknee from Muskoday First Nation, were among the U-14 Team North Sask who successfully defended their title.

In the U-16’s, Austin Belair and Parker Elphinstone were part of their provincial team. Their next outing will be the Western Provincial Championships later this month.

Prince Albert has a girls’ team for the first time and four players were part of the U-18 Team North Sask who finished second. They are: Brooklyn Grimard, Izabella Beer, Chantel Bourassa, Abby Tiessen.

They have a month to prepare for the Western Provincial championships in August.
