Meadow Lake and District Chamber of Commerce hire new administrator

Trevor Dignean is the new administrator for the Meadow Lake and District Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m a little nervous,” Dignean said. “I know there’s going to be some challenges but I’m looking forward to it and it’s been what drives me in the past. I’ve got a lot of experience in small town communities and its chamber of commerce.”

Dignean and his wife Kellie owned a pharmacy in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan for 10 years and were a part of the Hudson Bay Chamber of Commerce.

“In that time I got a lot of information and different ideas of how the chamber operates and runs,” Dignean said.

Dignean was a store manager for a Shoppers Drug Mart in Saskatoon for the past five years. He also has training in tourism from the Travel Professionals International.

Dignean said he enjoys the outdoors and part of the reason he decided to move his family to Meadow Lake was the quality of life that comes with living in a smaller community.

“I’m hoping to lay down some roots for my kids and show them what the lifestyle can be when living in a small community compared to in the city where the hustle and bustle becomes the norm,” Dignean said.

Dignean starts August 6 and his first priority is to introduce himself and meet with all the business owners and managers in the district.

In a release, Chamber of Commerce President Gerald Pohl said members look forward to working with Dignean to help the business community grow and create new opportunities and initiatives for them. Pohl also said Dignean is a social individual which will help him take on these challenges.

The previous administrator, Coleton Eitheir, left the position at the start of July and accepted a job as an assistant football coach at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia.
