Rescue Janna! STARS fundraiser lands in the Battlefords

Jul 30, 2019 | 8:35 AM

In September, Janna Dutton will trade in her business suit for a flight suit to raise money for STARS Air Ambulance.

She will get picked up and be dropped in the middle of a field on Sept. 5 and using nothing but her cell phone, collect funds to get back home.

To help her along the way, the unique fundraiser will land in the Battlefords on Tuesday at Blend Restaurant, where people will have the opportunity to come and have a conversation with David Conway, an international mindset speaker. Tickets are $45 and can be found on Eventbrite. A STARS VIP will also speak on how the service helped save their life.

Dutton has worked on the project for the last six months and wants to raise $1 for every person in Saskatchewan.

Outside of the speaking event, those who want to assist can go to rescuejanna.com and donate as little as $1.

“It allows so much more of the population to participate in something so important,” Campaign Project Manager Pamela Hujber said.

When patrons donate, it shares to their social media pages and allows them to share their own story, which Hujber said helps raise the profile of the service.

“We think about our urban centres and the access they have to quick medical help. They don’t have that in rural communities. You nearest help can be hours away and STARS changes that,” she added.

Dutton is the daughter-in-law to the owners of Dutton Farms between the Battlefords and Lloydminster. She owns several Tim Hortons locations in Saskatoon.
