Over 250 Blizzards sold in Meadow Lake for Miracle Treat Day

Miracle Treat Day was held at Dairy Queen locations across the country yesterday and the Meadow Lake restaurant joined the event for the first time.

Owner and manager Siddharth Patel estimated they sold over 250 Blizzards on Aug. 8.

“I appreciate everyone who took part in Miracle Treat Day,” Patel said. “We are really grateful and the money raised will be very helpful for the sick kids.”

Patel said the store opened in April and is new so they didn’t get a big response. However, he did receive big orders from local businesses.

“I got some big orders from Innovation bank and Eagle Creek [Motor Products],” Patel said. “Last year they would have to go to North Battleford because there was no Dairy Queen location in Meadow Lake. But now we are open and they gave us a big order and they helped raise money for the sick kids.”

Patel said he will advertise more next year to get the word out and raise more money for the children’s hospital.

“Hopefully next year we will get more of contribution from Meadow Lake,” Patel said.

Patel said he has to wait for reports to come in to know exactly how much money the store raised for the Children’s Miracle Network.

All net proceeds from each Blizzard sold will go to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation in Saskatoon which is expected to open this fall.
