With summer inching closer to an end, the playground program in Melfort is wrapping up for another year.

The program has been running in Melfort for many years according to Recreation Programmer Shannon Marshall and it has kept growing each year.

“We had great attendance at both of our parks,” Marshall told northeastNOW. “We really want to thank all of our participants for coming out. It was a great, fun filled eight weeks and we look forward to doing it again next year for sure.”

The program runs at Burke and Brunswick Kinsmen playgrounds in Melfort through the summer, allowing parents to bring their children somewhere different.

“We get great feedback from parents and participants,” Marshall said. “They just love to be able to come out to a park, and it’s got something extra for the kids to do because we do have the playground leaders there leading games, crafts, and activities throughout the day. So there’s something for each kid to enjoy, plus the water features that each park has.”

To cap off the summer, a ‘Year End Wrap Up’ party is being held at Brunswick Playground on Wednesday, Aug. 21 between 1 and 4 p.m. It will have bouncy castles, crafts, games, and more for children to enjoy as the program comes to a close for the summer.

“It’s the last day for the program,” Marshall added. “So it’s the last day for the kids to come out and enjoy the games and activities.”

The wrap up party is free to attend.
