A 41-year-old man from Nipawin facing drug and assault charges will have a defence election and trial in the coming months.

Randy Norman Hamilton appeared in Nipawin Provincial Court Aug. 28. He is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of the proceeds of crime, and assault causing bodily harm.

The drug and theft-related charges stem from June 4, 2019 when Nipawin RCMP seized nearly two pounds of methamphetamine and stolen property from a local business in Nipawin. Police also located other drug paraphernalia and items consistent with drug trafficking.

Hamilton will have his defence election for his drug and theft charges on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and his trial regarding his assault charges on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Both will take place in Nipawin court.
