Hopes that new P.A. arena will boost economy
The announcement of a $60 million double-rink and aquatic centre for Prince Albert is not just good news for local sports and recreation, but it is expected to bring a boost to the economy in the short and longer term.
On Friday, the federal and provincial governments announced $44 million in joint funding for the project, with the city expected to come up with $16 million, likely in borrowing and reserves.

“Finally, our governments are recognizing a lot of our infrastructure is getting older and needs to be renewed or replaced,” Ryan Court, the president of the PA Construction Association, told paNOW. “Talking to a few other contractors, they were pretty excited to hear we’re getting help on this.”
