La Ronge RCMP seize crystal meth, weapons from LLRIB residence

La Ronge RCMP have arrested a 41-year-old man who is now facing multiple charges including possession of crystal meth.

That’s according to an RCMP media release, which states on Oct. 23 at approximately 6 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at a LLRIB residence. The search of the residence resulted in the seizure of 30 grams of crystal meth, a sawed-off shotgun, a sawed-off 22 rifle, a sawed-off .223 rifle and an SKS rifle.

Calvin Charles, of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band, has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, breach of probation, two counts of improper storage of firearms, three counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, unauthorized possession of firearms and three counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition.

Charles has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to make his first appearance in provincial court in La Ronge on Oct. 25, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.
