Tuesday night’s North Stars game will be BMHA Appreciation Night

The Battlefords North Stars are hosting the Battlefords Minor Hockey Association’s (BMHA) appreciation night at their game Tuesday night against Humboldt.

Every minor hockey player from the Battlefords is invited to throw on their team’s jersey and cheer on the North Stars. All BMHA players will get free admission when accompanied by a paying adult at the game.

Teams and players are encouraged to show their North Stars spirit via photos or videos with a chance to win 15 seats in the Bralin Box.

President of BMHA Kyle Kellgren talked about why events like these are important for communities like the Battlefords.

“It is about giving back and getting all the kids in our community that are part of minor hockey to come to the game. The kids always look up to the North Stars as their team, so it’s a night to get them in the building and show support for the junior club that all these 500 plus kids in the Battlefords cheer for,” he said.

Kellgren said they have a great relationship with the Battlefords North Stars.

“It is something that we are proud of as both organizations. We look to continue and grow into the future and get more kids to continue playing hockey and try to become North Stars,” he said.

The Battlefords North Stars won the Canalta Cup last year and are off to a great start again this season. Kellgren said seeing the local team be this successful helps motivate minor hockey players to continue to improve.

“It gives them something to shoot for. Every kid’s dream as they are growing up in the Battlefords is to play for the North Stars. We have been very successful lately and the kids see these young men in the community and they see them working hard and practicing and they see something they can achieve. We’ve had local kids that have gone on to play AAA or junior A and on to bigger and better things,” he said.

The game against Humboldt will be broadcast on 1050 CJNB with the Ultra Print Pregame show at 7:15 p.m. with puck drop at 7:30 p.m. on NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey.
