Weapons seized after RCMP pursuit

Nov 12, 2019 | 4:32 PM

RCMP laid several charges and seized two firearms after a pursuit Friday evening.

Cpl. Rob King said Meadow Lake RCMP officers spotted a red Ford Explorer which was known to them. Officers suspected there were weapons in the SUV which resulted in a car chase.

King said the speeds of the chase reached approximately 150 km/h on a snow-covered gravel rural road and at times, the pursuit was dangerous. Loon Lake and Pierceland RCMP members responded to the call as well.

Spike belts were deployed twice with a successful deflation of the two front tires on the third attempt.

Two of the suspects fled on foot though were later caught by officers. One of the firearms seized was loaded.

Four men and one woman, all from the immediate area, have been charged though no other information about the suspects or their charges have been released.

More to come as this story develops.
