A clothing drive and ice shack raffle are two ways Nipawin Handiworks is raising funds for a new mini-van.

Tickets are for sale at various locations for the ice shack while items for the clothing drive can be dropped off at the Handiworks workshop until Dec. 2.

April Demmans with the fundraising committee said along with clothes, they are accepting shoes, linens, and bedding for Community Living.

“We collect it and then at the end of the month, Community Living will pick it up and they weigh it and then Handiworks gets so much a pound as a donation back,” Demmans said.

Handiworks participants will also collect items for those unable to make drop-offs. Call 306-862-2270 to arrange a collection time.

“It definitely also helps people who might be cleaning out their closets so it works out super well for everybody,” Demmans said.

The draw for the Saskatchewan Roughriders ice shack being made by Handiworks will be made on Dec. 19. Tickets are $10 each or three for $20 at Handiworks.

The tickets will also be for sale at this Friday and Saturday nights Nipawin Hawks games, Pineland Co-op and No Frills stores on Nov. 20 and 21, 28 and 29, and Dec. 10 and 11.

The committee hosts different fundraisers throughout the year to cover different programming for the participants.

Demmans said their biggest moneymaker so far has been when they brought in the famous people players group to town a few years ago.

She said if they sell out all of their raffle tickets, it should bring in about $5,000.
