Feedback requested for new parks and recreation program

Nov 25, 2019 | 1:59 PM

The City of North Battleford and Town of Battleford are partnering in the development of a joint parks and recreation master plan and are asking locals for their feedback.

The plan will assess the current state of spaces, facilities, programs, and activities. It will also identify recommendations regarding the provision of parks and recreation services to meet the needs of the area residents and visitors over the next 10 years.

RC Strategies and PERC have been retained to work with the two municipalities to complete the plan.

The program recognizes the need for community feedback on a project like this. Community partners, organizations, and residents will be provided with an opportunity to share their thoughts on the current situation and future needs.

A survey will be fielded in November and December to gather local opinions.

In a press release, both mayors had positive feedback for the initiative.

“Recreation and parks services and programs help improve our overall health, strengthen families, and enhance the entire Battlefords community,” City of North Battleford Mayor Ryan Bater said.

“I strongly encourage all residents in the Battlefords area to provide their input and have their say about the new master plan when given the opportunity. This is an important project that will guide how parks and recreation services in our community are provided for years to come,” Town of Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie said.

A postcard will be sent to residents with an access code that is required to access the survey. If residents require a hardcopy of the survey they can be picked up at city hall with an access code. The survey will be available next week on this website.
