La Loche drug deal gone bad leads to armed highway pursuit: RCMP

Five men and one youth are facing multiple charges after RCMP alleged a trip to La Loche to buy illegal drugs went wrong.
According to an RCMP press release, on Nov. 3 officers at the La Loche detachment received a report of a shooting on Highway 155 approximately 15 kilometers south of La Loche. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a pickup truck with damage to the rear tires and five males hiding in the bushes. The males were transported to the detachment to be interviewed, where they mentioned being chased along the highway by another vehicle and shot at from the same vehicle.
After weeks of investigation, and limited cooperation from the people involved, police believe the five males travelled from Buffalo Narrows to La Loche to buy illegal drugs. There, they were involved in an altercation and ended up being pursued south on Highway 155 when shots were fired.
The five males from the Buffalo Narrows area have been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm, and possession of a firearm knowing that possession is unauthorized. They males include Robert Kenney (28), Colin McPherson (28), Dawson Tyrell Laliberte (19), Zachary Reed Montgrand (18) and a youth who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
