Chimney fire

Structure fire contained to chimney in R.M. of Kinistino

It was a close call this morning at a residence in the R.M. of Kinistino.

Melfort Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire at 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday.

Crews were on route when they were informed that it was a chimney fire believed to be under control.

The occupant of the home was able to snuff out the blaze by closing the damper.

No injuries or damage was reported in the incident.

The fire department posted a reminder on their Facebook page following the call.

With the colder weather bound to occur it is extremely important to ensure that any wood burning appliance are maintained and cleaned on a regular basis.
