Province approves sale of cannabis edibles, extracts and topical products

The province has approved cannabis edibles, extracts and topical products to become available to the public.

Brent Michaud, assistant manager with Tweed in Meadow Lake says the demand for edibles has increased since opening in May earlier this year.

“Everybody is coming in and asking for [edibles]. It’s picked up quite a bit, maybe two out of five [customers] ask now,” Michaud told meadowlakeNOW.

Michaud said when Tweed first opened its doors for business in town, one out of five customers asked for edibles.

“Everything is on order at the moment, when we receive them. I’m not sure but were shooting for before Christmas. I can’t promise anything,” he said.

Edibles (food and candy), topicals (creams and lotions) and exctracts (oils or concentrates) can only be purchased online and in-stores regulated by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, the province stated in a press release.

Michaud said Tweed’s edible supply would likely be partially in stock in the new year.
