The popular Holiday Twinkle Tour once again saw a great turnout of participants in the guided tour of some of the best decorated homes in the Battlefords.

About 160 vehicles participated in the event that was a partnership with 1050 CJNB and the City of North Battleford. The Magic Lantern Theatres also partnered in this community celebration.

CJNB’s Samara Emsley said it was great to have so many people come together to take in the beautiful light displays.

“Everyone kind of has their own theme, their own take,” she said of the variety of decorative styles on the tour, adding the range went from classic all the way to over-the-top offerings.

Derrol LeBlanc won the award for the best decorated home located on Blue Jay Crescent.

He said he spent a total of 52 hours decorating his place and was happy to be recognized.

The second place winner was Branden Kotzer for his home on 96 St. The Best Decorated Block award went to the 2000 block of 96 St.

Following the tour, people gathered at the Western Development Museum for hot chocolate and fellowship.

Emsley was thrilled to see so many taking part in the event, now in its second year.

“The winner received a plaque this year and the winning street is getting a sign at their street so everyone knows they decorated the most,” she said. “So I think that is really going to drive people to want to register next year.”
