BRSI Celebrates Christmas and its Volunteers

Battlefords Residential Services Inc. (BRSI) recently celebrated Christmas with Santa and Mrs. Clause and celebrated the dedication and work of 14 volunteers.

December 18th, the Jolly Man himself, along with Mrs. Claus paid a special visit to the residents of Battlefords Residential Services Inc. (BRSI) at their annual Christmas party held on Wednesday, December 18 at the Third Avenue United Church.

Together with family and friends, staff and Board members, everyone celebrated the joy of the season with a wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixings.

The highlight of the Christmas party was the special visit from Santa & Mrs. Claus who brought many smiles and much joy and laughter to everyone there!

Board Chairperson, Yvonne Nyholt, on behalf of the Board of Directors expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Leadership Team and the incredible staff who care for, and support all the individuals in their care helping them live their best life possible.

She also expressed her thanks to the families, and guardians who support BRSI and to the rest of the Board of Directors for their commitment and time, ensuring that our individuals are always at the forefront of everything Battlefords Residential Services Inc. does.

At its annual Christmas Celebration on December 18, 2019, Battlefords Residential Services Inc. (BRSI) recognized a total of 16 employees and Board Members for their length of service with the agency with five 5 Year Service Awards, two 10 Year Service Awards presented, two 15 Year Service Awards, one 20 Year Service Award, 4 25 Year Service Awards presented and two 35 Year Service Awards presented.

Battlefords Residential Services Inc. is a non-profit community based organization and a Canada Revenue Agency Registered Charity that provides residential, day programming and supported living services to individuals in our community who have intellectual and/or physical disabilities. BRSI provides these services through the operation of 6 residential group homes, providing care for 35 individuals, Supported Living Program for 11 individuals and a day program (BRIDGE) for 11 individuals.

The 5 Years Service Award recipients included employees Harpreet Asahan, Mary Grace Baraoidan, Jose Micalnio, Anabelle Macaso, and Board Member Carolyn Monette. The 10 Year Service Award recipients included employee Belinda Kuhmayer and Board Member Pat Hancock. There were two 15 Year Service Award recipients, employees Shelly Gallant and Sylvia Peterson. The lone 20 Year Service Award recipient was employee Kim Schell. The 25 Year Service Award recipients were employees Tracy Clarke, Andrew Horacki, Brenda Lennie and Sheryl Herle. The two 35 Service Award recipients were Board Chairperson Yvonne Nyholt and BRSI’s Executive Director, Deborah Bartlett.

Yvonne Nyholt, Chairperson of the Board of Directors for BRSI expressed her thanks and appreciation to each of the award recipients for their dedication to the agency and the individuals they support.
