Suspects apprehended in Melfort

Two suspects have been arrested after separate incidents in Melfort.

On Jan. 6 at 1:40 p.m., RCMP were called about a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of Broadway Avenue.

Police spotted the suspect and a foot chase began.

Thirty-eight-year-old Gerald Laiberte was arrested shortly after, and has been charged with possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer and possession of methamphetamine.

Laiberte made his first court appearance Jan. 7.

Meanwhile, a break-and-enter in Melfort on Dec. 30 has led to charges.

At 11 p.m., RCMP responded to the call at a business on Main Street.

Thirty-four-year-old Tyrone Allen Rogers has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, theft under $5,000, possession of methamphetamine, and breaching his judge’s undertaking.

Rogers will appear in Melfort Provincial Court Jan. 14.
