‘There’s no such thing as a dumb question’: Maintenance and other tips for snowblowers and snowmobiles
With the first big snowfall of 2020 coming on Wednesday, Jan. 8, it may signal the first time that some people in the northeast are bringing out their snowmobiles and maybe their snowblowers.
Maintenance is key when you bring those units out for the first time, and Brian Farley with Thomas Motors in Melfort said maintenance for snowmobiles can differ based on what machine you have.
“Four-stroke, you’re going to have a motor that’s more like in your car,” he said. “Maybe you’re due for an oil change. You should change your oil, check the gas, make sure the gas isn’t old. If it is maybe you’re going to suck it out, put some fresh gas in it.”
Farley said for two-strokes, it might be as simple as power valves, or carburator being cleaned as well as changing the gas.
