A 19-year-old victim of a violent assault in Meadow Lake says one minute she was sitting at home watching a movie and the next, she was embroiled in an alleged attack.

She told meadowlakeNOW, her life has completely changed last Wednesday evening after an alleged attack from girls she says she was once close with.

On the night of the incident, the victim says she was watching a movie with her boyfriend and her 19-month-old daughter before being called outside by her alleged attackers. She says when she declined to leave the house, her attackers tipped over trash bins. After she stepped outside to pick them up, she says she was stabbed repeatedly in the stomach.

She says her daughter was awake during the altercation and witnessed her suffering from stab wounds. Her boyfriend brought her in the house before calling police.

“My baby is doing okay around my family, but if I try to hug her, she cries. It hurts. It sucks when your baby is scared of you,” she said. meadowlakeNOW has chosen not to publish her name.

The victim says she was stabbed on her left glute muscle, where 14 stitches now hold a 14 inch wound. She said she suffered a stab wound under right rib cage which cut her small intestine twice, her large intestine three times and a major artery.

She says she lost nearly a quart of blood. In order to repair her internal injury, doctors were forced to perform life-saving surgery leaving a nearly 20-inch cut down her stomach.

“At first it didn’t sink in right away. I knew the girls. I was friends with them, I had love for them, I trusted them. Now I’m scared to go home … I’m scared to be in the hometown I grew up in,” she said.

The 19-year-old mom says she is shaking from pain. Her doctors advised her not to lift anything more than 5 lbs for one to two months for full recovery.

The victim says she is able to complete grade 12 while she is recovering. She says her life has changed and she’s not sure where this experience will take her.

“I want a good job and have a home for my baby,” she said.
