The public has the opportunity to nominate those who they believe had an impact at Churchill Community High School or former students who have excelled in their chosen field.

“This will be our third induction ceremony coming up in June and, prior to the ceremony, we have a nomination period where people can nominate alumni from CCHS,” teacher Gabe Andrews said. “They can also be community builders or entrepreneurs in the community who may not have been graduates from the school, but have had significant contributions to the school over the years.”

The alumni who are nominated for the Wall of Honour must have demonstrated excellence in the fields of athletics, the arts, science, technology, engineering, mathematics, social/political science, humanities or as a cultural ambassador. The nomination period opened Jan. 13 and will close April 3, before Andrews said the nomination committee will select up to four inductees.

There are multiple ways people can nominate an individual including online here, completing a form found at the CCHS front desk or printing a form from the CCHS website.

“It shows the students there are people coming from our school who have moved on to do some pretty amazing things with their lives,” Andrews said. “[It’s] getting out of the mindset that La Ronge is a small, northern community that doesn’t provide a lot of opportunity. I think it shows that’s not the case. We can show La Ronge is a viable community with a lot very smart and established individuals doing a lot of amazing things.”

Andrews believes the Wall of Honour is also a way to celebrate the achievements of individuals from the school. He noted it’s important to notice those people and give credit for the hard work they have done.

Those already inducted to the Wall of Honour are Sarah Gauthier, the late Susan Greene, Dani Ivanochko, Jodie Laliberte, the late Norman MacAuley and Anand Ramayya.
