Dennis Adams, the show producer said an array of rock music from different decades is part of the performance.

“It’s a classic rock show, so it kind of goes back in the classic rock hits, it’s done in a concert setting. Some of the people in the show are sort of in the characters of the show,” he said.

The rock show has been part of the festival for the past four years. Adams said the show caters to a different demographic than the other music shows. He said lots of people in the crowd tend to have a lot of fun and sing along to the songs.

Adams added people who have attended in the past won’t notice any major differences in the music.

“It is probably a little more retro,” he said.

Those who come out to the Saturday evening show will have the chance to attend the after-show cabaret for more music and dancing.

Tickets for the event can be bought at the door or in advance at Canadian Tire and Corner Stone Insurance.

Youth Extravaganza set for second year

Pamela Bochet, co-producer for the Youth Extravaganza that happens Sunday evening, said this year’s performance is bigger than last.

“We have an entirely new cast this year with 105 youths who’ll be going across that stage,” she said.

Bochet explained the goal of the show is promote young people in the musical arts. A wide array of groups are coming together. The performance will feature music, dance and a choir group. Performers range in age from eight to 18. Bochet added the production is truly a youth effort.

“Our back up band is an entire youth back up band and our MCs are from Carlton and we have a backstage crew from St. Marys,” she said.

The event is set to get underway at 7 p.m. at the Rawlinson Centre.

Away from the music offerings, the the winter festival art show at the Mann Art Gallery is set to open its doors Friday.
