The Rural Municipality of Meadow Lake #588 has been explaining the way forward following the closure of their office doors March 17.

Gina Bernier, RM administrator told meadowlakeNOW on Saturday most services will still be available to residents.

“We will take bill payments electronically, or by phone in or people can drop off cheques into our black box,” she said.

Bernier is asking the RM shop crew to stay home effective Monday March 23.

“Having [the shop crew] stay home is the safest plan for them, that way they’ll stay well ,” she said. “In the event of a large blizzard, we will maintain the roads and hopefully [the shop crew] are well enough to come to work.”

Bernier said she understands the uncertainty the community is currently facing and is hoping for a positive outcome.

“To the farming community, I really encourage you to stay home, stay safe and stay well,” she said. “Phone people but please don’t go and visit anyone.”

The RM’s next council meeting is scheduled for April 14, although it has yet to be confirmed whether that will be open to the public or held electronically.

RM residents can email council staff at rm588@sasktel.net.
