COVID-19 testing begins in La Ronge
A COVID-19 testing site has opened in La Ronge and 18 other sites across the integrated north.
That’s according to an email from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, which noted as of March 23, testing sites are operating in Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Swift Current and Weyburn. There are also six integrated rural testing sites.
In an interview with larongeNOW, La Ronge Mayor Ron Woytowich said he was aware testing was coming but didn’t know it already began. The location of the site isn’t being published for privacy.
“It’s a trying time and people are all a little concerned,” he said. “The part about La Ronge is we all know this is a serious situation and we also know because of our location, La Ronge happens to be one of the places people are going to come. We’re the only ones with a hospital, a drug store, the police, the big grocery stores and everything else.”
