Nipawin bridge project to resume in mid-April

Fine-tuning of the $8 million dollar bridge project on Highway 55 north of Nipawin will resume.

A release from the town said the contractor – Stantec – will begin work on Monday, April 13. Some traffic restrictions expected include:

• One lane operation at 30 km/h when entering the bridge
• Temporary traffic lights or flaggers to guide drivers
• Traffic stops no longer than 20 minutes to allow entry for the contractor’s equipment

The town expects work on the bridge to be a short duration.

[Stantec] intends to paint some portions of the new structure and much of the painting is happening on the superstructure underneath,” Nipawin’s Chief Administrative Officer Barry Elliot said. “They anticipate that any restrictions on the bridge’s roadway are going to minimal, but there is going to be a little bit of disruption.”

Stantec previously lifted traffic restrictions in late-November, following curb and guardrail rehabilitation.

While there’s no set date on when work will be complete, Elliott said Stantec will continue to provide the town and its residents with updates.
