The weather is warming up and the kids are still at home, but parents in the northeast will soon have an opportunity to teach their children about gardening.

North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) has teamed up with Wright’s Greenhouse to offer do-it-yourself gardening kits for kids.

The kits are $20, and include two tomatoes, two peppers, two marigolds, six vegetable seeds, a container and some soil.

NEOSS executive director Louise Schweitzer told northeastNOW some of the NEOSS staff were thinking outside the box when they came up with the idea, and added it’s a great way to spread some positivity during this time.

Kits can be purchased until April 26. They will be available for delivery or curbside pickup at Wright’s Greenhouse April 27, 28 or 29 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

“It’s a really good value, and it’s an awesome way to bond with your kids, and teach all kinds of neat things as they grow their plants from scratch,” Schweitzer said.

She said if you’re from outside of the Melfort area, they will have some deliveries going to communities like Archerwill, Tisdale, and Naicam.

“Contact our organization and we’ll see what we can do to get them out into your community,” Schweitzer said. “I do know that we have some going into Prince Albert, and we have some individuals that will be coming to get those and assisting us with getting them out into that area as well.”

To purchase a kit, you can contact NEOSS through Facebook messenger. You can also call their office at 306-752-9464, Jennifer at 306-874-7232, or Kathryn at 306-921-9966.
