R.M. announces fire ban

A fire ban is now in effect in the R.M. of North Battleford No 437.
The decision was made following the quick melting of snowfall and windy conditions coinciding, which is drying out tall vegetation. Co-Chief Trevor Watts said they already had a grass fire three miles north of Denholm.
“It’s grassfire season for sure and it’s dry in many areas,” Watts said.
Because conditions are unlikely to change in the short term, Watts said residents and businesses should avoid any possible scenarios that involve fire outdoors, even using burning barrels.
