All registration postponed for 10th annual Melfort Multi-K

The arrival of May typically means early registration for the Melfort Multi-K but that has now been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Race Director Allison Rogers said registration in it’s entirety for the 10th annual event will be put on hold for now.

“We didn’t feel it was responsible to go ahead and then have to refund people so just like everyone else we are just waiting at this point,” Rogers said.

The committee is closely monitoring the situation but Rogers figures that July 1st would be the latest they could wait with making a final decision on the event.

“We are cautiously optimistic but again we will just have to wait to see what the province tells us,” Rogers said. “The problem being that there are so many things that need to be pre-planned and prepaid.”

This year would commemorate 10 years of the event which the committee had a few special plans in place for but the committee wants to make sure they can celebrate properly.

The committee held a medal design contest again and they were hoping to add more people to the roster this year and of course the 10X club would have been new this year.

“We actually have a lot of people that would be in that 10X club which is awesome,” Rogers said.

Rogers encourages anyone that had planned to take part in the run and to train for it, to keep going forward with that.

“That will be important to get us through this, stay positive, get out and be active in whatever way that is for you,” Rogers said. ” Even if the event doesn’t happen in September it doesn’t mean that we can’t be working towards it.”

Emails were sent out to past participants with the registration postponement information and Rogers said they will continue to send those emails out with any new details that may pop up. The Melfort Multi-K Facebook page has all of the information as well.

“If things go well, we can open and if not, we will be back in 2021,” she said.
