Board of Trade Award Gala to be aired on Facebook

An opportunity to experience a gala event from the comfort of your living room.

The Carrot River Board of Trade’s Annual Business Excellence Awards Gala can be viewed on their Facebook page tonight.

Community Development Manager Miranda Blaber told northeastNOW the virtual event was made necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Obviously with the current situation that everybody is in, we cannot host our event,” Blaber said. “We sat on it for a little bit and we decided ‘you know, these nominees and award recipients really deserve to be celebrated.'”

She said the nominees knew they were nominated and everyone was waiting to see who won the awards.

“We felt it really important to give recognition, and give our community a little something to look forward to, even if it is just watching online,” Blaber said.

The awards gala was designed to celebrate the citizens and businesses in the community that go above and beyond, Blaber explained.

This is the first time the Carrot River Board of Trade has held an online video event. Blaber said video was gathered from multiple people, and it was a challenge to do so while following safe social distancing protocols.

Blaber said if you miss the video tonight, they can send out a link for you to view it at another time.
