North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) is gearing up for a different kind of fundraiser in July.

The ‘Parking Lot Party’ is set for Friday, July 17 in Tisdale at the Bruce Schapansky Auction Site. So far, NEOSS announced local band Constant Reminder will be the headliner and they’re still looking at getting one more act.

“Like a drive-in theatre, you’ll be able to enjoy the music from out of your car,” Executive Director Louise Schweitzer said. “We’re going to be practicing all the social distancing that is required for the event through our public health agencies and respecting the pandemic issues.”

Schweitzer added all organizations in the northeast region have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Numerous fundraising events were cancelled for a variety of groups, but fundraising is still a major priority for them. She said groups, including NEOSS had to adjust.

“Our fundraising goals are always there,” she said. “And something we need to fulfill as we go through the years.”

Tickets for the ‘Parking Lot Party’ are $45 and a link for tickets can be found here or on the NEOSS Facebook page. Tickets are based on the carload, and only the legal amount of passengers will be allowed.

Meanwhile, Schweitzer also mentioned NEOSS is slowly going back to normal operations. While councillors have been available via phone during the pandemic, Schweitzer said they have a re-open plan in place to allow face to face counselling again.
