St. Walburg School graduate awarded trades scholarship
A recent graduate from St. Walburg School has been recognized for his interest in skilled trades.
The Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission (SATCC) announced Saskatchewan Youth Apprenticeship (SYA) Industry Scholarships for 100 graduating high school students in 72 communities across the province.
St. Walburg School graduate Kelton Augustin, was awarded the Saskatchewan Construction Association Scholarship for his active pursuit in operating heavy machinery. He told meadowlakeNOW he applied after his Vice Principal Lori Bartee noticed his enthusiasm toward the trade and encouraged him to apply.
“My teachers and my principal said it would be in my best interest,” he said. “I sat down with my teachers and they helped me along with [the application].”
