Local golfers place well at Saskatchewan Amateur
A few local golfers left their mark on the 109 Saskatchewan Amateur Golf Championship this week.
Scott Thompson of North Battleford placed third in the amateur men’s tournament, as well as second in the mid-amateur ranks, finishing four under par for the week. Unity’s Justin Wood also had a solid showing, placing fifth and third in the amateur and mid-amateur standings, which were hosted at the Legends Golf Club in Warman.
Thompson, a two-time champion in 2009 and 2010, shot consistently throughout the week, posting a 72, 69 and 71 for the three days. After spending less time hitting the links in recent years, Thompson said he really enjoyed returning to high level play.
“I got the itch back again,” he said. “So yeah, it was good, I’m happy with it.”
