A local business has temporarily closed its doors as a precautionary measure against COVID-19.

Meadow Lake Flowers and Plants business owner Shelley Dymond told meadowlakeNOW in an email a family member had been tested for COVID-19 and as a precautionary measure, will close the store until further notice.

A social media post issued by the business on July 22, received an outpour of community support indicating the closure is “the responsible thing to do.”

According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority, businesses have been complying with guidelines to minimize COVID-19 transmission. Members of the public are reminded to also play their part by continuing to take precautions to protect themselves and others in the community.

This includes physical distancing to maintain a two-metre separation at all times, following one way directions in stores, frequent hand washing and sanitizing, self-isolating which means not going out to public places if sick.

It is also recommended to adhere to public health orders and municipal government guidelines, including limiting your social circles, travel restrictions and not attending large gatherings.

COVID-19 is still present in Saskatchewan and we all have a responsibility to minimize the spread of the disease.
