As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, local organizations still need to fundraise to stay afloat.

That’s what North East Outreach and Support Service’s (NEOSS) is doing with their Facebook Virtual Auction that begins Tuesday, August 4. Executive Director Louise Schweitzer said they did a similar event last year, but this one is much bigger.

“This is definitely a new venture for us,” she said. “It’s thinking outside of the box of ways we can fundraise the dollars through the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Schweitzer said they’ve had numerous donations throughout the area to have products for people to bid on. Everything from household items, to gift certificates, purses, and even a hockey portrait will be available to bid on.

“I think there’s something that would please everyone,” Schweitzer said.

To bid, people can go to the NEOSS Virtual Facebook Page and comment under the item they would like. Bids must be in $1 increments. Scweitzer said the money raised will go right back into NEOSS.

“A lot of it will go to general operations,” she said. “And making sure that we can provide for our clients, the services that they need, and the products that they need to begin their journey to a violence free lifestyle.”

The auction runs until Tuesday, August 11.

NEOSS is also doing a ladies night at the Naicam golf course on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
