Province records five new cases of COVID-19

There are five new cases of COVID-19 to report in the province as of Aug. 10, which brings the total amount of cases to 1,450.

None of the new cases are in the North: one is in the Saskatoon zone, three in the Regina zone and one in the South Central zone.

Of the total cases, there are 165 considered active, while 1,265 people have recovered.

Thirteen people are in hospital. Eight are receiving inpatient care with three in Saskatoon, one in Regina, three in the south west and one in south central. Five people remain in intensive care with three in Saskatoon, one in the north central region, and one in the south west region.

Of the 1,450 cases, 206 are travellers, 723 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 399 have no known exposures, and 122 are under investigation by public health.

Across the province 64 cases are healthcare workers (although not all sourced their infections from work), 352 cases are from the far north area (346 far north west, 0 far north central, six far north east), 330 cases are from the south area (156 south west, 163 south central, 11 south east), 231 cases are from the north area (100 north west, 66 north central, 65 north east), 225 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 190 cases are from the central area (160 central west, 30 central east) and 121 cases are from the Regina area.

There are 230 cases involving people aged 19 and under. The remainder are adults.

There are 459 cases in the 20 to 39 age range, 459 in the 40 to 59 age range, 248 in the 60 to 79 age range and 54 in the 80-plus range.

Fifty per cent of cases are females and 50 per cent are males.

Twenty people have died from COVID-19 complications.

The latest figures show 113,045 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan, with 1,297 of them performed on Sunday.

Testing is available to anyone who requests it, regardless of whether they have symptoms.
