‘Music to Art’ set for Saturday in Melfort in support of local businesses

Aug 20, 2020 | 3:00 PM

Just a few days remain until the first-ever ‘Music to Art’ event in Melfort.

On Saturday, Aug. 22, artists and musicians from around Saskatchewan will be at Memorial Gardens in Melfort to help support local businesses.

“All the businesses are super excited to have people downtown,” said organizer Justin Rempel. “And just bring people into their doors, have some music, and some cool stuff going on, so it should be a good day.”

The idea behind ‘Music to Art’ started with a conversation between Rempel and artist Linsey Levendall who wanted to have an event to bring music and art together. The event will see artists including Rempel and Levendall create art as musicians perform. Other artists include Tyson Olson, and Bonnie Bailey.

“If there are some more artists that want to get involved, for sure, send me a message on Facebook,” Rempel said. “Or you can send it to my number at 1-306-920-7077 and we’re more than willing to have more people come, the more the better.”

There are a number of musicians as well including Rempel, ‘Pastor Ross’, Indefinite Return, The O’Flanagans, Adam Johnson, Altered State, and Stephanie Turner.

Money raised at the event will be through auctioning off the pieces of art, as well as from some raffle prizes. Funds are set to go to the Melfort Trade Alliance to help out local businesses who have been affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVID-19 guidelines will be followed at the event with sanitation, and social distancing. There won’t be chairs available, so Rempel is reminding people to bring their own lawn chairs if they would like to sit down.

There’s also T-Shirts available and can be purchased through JBN Promotions in Melfort.

‘Music to Art’ will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
