SaskTel outage in Spiritwood

Spiritwood area left without phone services after SaskTel building fire

Aug 23, 2020 | 9:38 AM

Spiritwood RCMP released on Sunday morning there is no way to reach 911 in the Spiritwood area, after a SaskTel building in the town caught fire early in the morning. Those who need police services will need to drive to their local detachment.

As a result of the fire, all local SaskTel services including phone (including 911), internet, and cellular services have been lost.

The affected area is estimated to be (from Spiritwood) north to Chitek Lake, south to Rabbit Lake, and east to Debden. How far west the stoppages have gone has not been determined.

Although Spiritwood RCMP nor SaskTel Support had an estimate as to when services would resume, the Town of Spiritwood said on Facebook services could take anywhere from two to 10 days to restore.

UPDATE

SaskTel is working on getting temporary service to the Spiritwood area after a Sunday morning fire at its building.

According to Michelle Englot, SaskTel’s Director of External Communications, there’s no word on the cause of the fire at the SaskTel building.

The fire caused a loss of landline, internet and cellular service for SaskTel customers in the community and surrounding area.
